Constance Dyckman Community Room
Constance Dyckman Community RoomAvailable for non-profit community group meetings, the Community Room can accommodate up to 125 people, and is available to any non-commercial group. It should be understood that patrons who want to see the current art exhibit will have the right to enter the room. To find out more about Community Room policies or to schedule its use, speak to the Reference Librarian on duty or use the following link to download a MicroSoft Word Document: Community Room Policy & Community Room application. If interested, download the form, print it out, complete the requested information, and fax it to the Library at 914-739-5659. Someone will contact you.

Exhibit Space
This space for creative works is available upstairs in the Community Room as well as in the Hallway/Foyer. Contact Connie Dyckman at the Library to discuss arrangements or click here for the Exhibit Policy, Application, and Insurance Waiver. If interested, download the forms, print them out, complete the requested information, and fax it to the Library at 914-739-5659. Someone will contact you.
Children's Room Display
Kids, do you own a collection that you would like to share in the Children's Room display case? If so, please call the Children's Librarian.

Library Newsletter
All current library cardholders receive the quarterly newsletter which lists many of the special events planned including programs, story times, exhibits, displays, book discussion groups, and news and announcements. Newsletters are also available at the circulation desk.

Patron Lounge
Comfortable, quiet area for reading, studying, working, small group conversations, book group meetings. Food and beverages are permitted in this area.

Computer Lessons
Available either for the Internet/Westlynx terminals or for the personal computers with Microsoft Word and Excel programs. Call the Library to arrange a time when a staff member or volunteer will be available for a teaching session.

Homebound Service
For those persons unable to come to the Library due to physical disabilities, we will arrange for a volunteer to deliver and pick-up materials. Please call the Library to arrange this service.

Photocopier
The Library has a photocopier available near the front entrance. Materials may be copied for a charge of $0.15 per page.

Reference
A Reference Librarian is available at the Information Desk to help with your information needs. Come in or telephone with your questions.

Book Sale
Please come in and browse our 12' of shelves of materials for sale. Paperbacks are $.50, hard covers are $2.00 (unless specially marked) and all children's books are $.50.

Notary Public
Service is free. Call ahead to be sure that a notary will be available.

Computers
WESTLYNX
GUI's: These are user-friendly computers with a "Graphical User Interface", meaning that they use symbols or pictures which you click on with the mouse to tell the computer what to do. The Library has eight GUI's, six in the main reference area and two in the Children's Room. Sign-up is necessary to use the GUI's. Use is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Printing is also available.
With the GUI's you can access:
  • The online catalog of holdings in the Hendrick Hudson Free Library as well as all other public libraries in Westchester.
  • Catalogs for selected academic libraries which list their book and serials holdings.
  • Citations and abstracts for newspapers and periodicals.
  • EBSCO magazine database offering the full text of 1,500 periodicals.
  • Internet using Netscape Web Browser (please, no down-loading).
Personal Computers: Located in the Computer Room, two computers are equipped with Microsoft Word and Excel for personal use word-processing and spreadsheets. Sign up to use a computer at the main circulation desk or by phone.
